Education experts will decide what is best for students and I will vote to support their budget requests. Superintendent Echelson’s vision and leadership for Waltham’s public schools has my full support, including his accelerated improvement plan. I support the Stigmatine property taking by eminent domain in order to build a new high school. Our kids deserve the best. I support our Master Education Plan and will continue to support outstanding school committee members.

Education is America’s great equalizer. My parents were the first in their families to obtain four-year college degrees. They inspired their children to obtain graduate and post-graduate degrees. But my parents also reminded us that education opens doors – what you do once you get through those doors is on you!

Differing education types are just as worthy as attending university. Society cannot afford to leave any student behind. The proposed addition of subjects like programming/ web development and environmental science in the high school will redefine how we look at traditional vocational training. Military service requires education and training for virtually every rank for promotion eligibility. As a city councilor, I will encourage traditional and non-traditional education (i.e. adult education & foreign language proficiency).
