Hi, I’m Sean Durkee and was elected to the Waltham City Council November 5, 2019 as the Ward 6 Councilor. Waltham’s next municipal general election is projected to be November 2, 2027. Some of you key concerns on key issues facing Waltham – affordable housing, overdevelopment and traffic, preserving open space, and caring for our seniors to name just some of them. The process for building a new police station, moving CPW, and building the library expansion has begun. Building a new fire station, building a new skating rink on Trapelo Rd., and funding the next programs and activities at the Fernald property are pending or in the works. I have the skills and experience to tackle these tough issues. I serve on two committees outside of City Council — the Police/Fire/ Public Works Committee and the Library Expansion Committee. I chair the Veterans Service Committee and the Long-Term Debt and Capital Planning Committee and am a member of the Finance Committee and the Ad-hoc Cable Access Committee.
I grew up on Prentice Street, attended the Plympton School, played Little League at Nipper Maher Park, and am an Eagle Scout. I have lived in Waltham my entire adult life. As a veteran and Warrant Officer in the Massachusetts Army National Guard, I have also traveled all over the world, deploying to Iraq and Kosovo. I’ve seen what government can do for people when it works, and what it means for communities when it doesn’t. I have an MBA with a concentration in finance from Bentley University which I earned working full-time attending school at night. I have over twenty years of financial experience, including managing multi-million dollar budgets and government contracts.
I’m a homeowner and a taxpayer. I’m the son, brother, and uncle, of members of the Waltham community, and I’ve been your neighbor on Hammond Street since 2007. I am asking for your vote so I can be your voice at City Hall, to make sure you have access to the services your taxes pay for, and that Ward 6 and all of Waltham has a bright future.
